1. The sub-domain names that may be registered are exclusively the ones corresponding to the level two of the geographic Top Level Domain of El Salvador SV.

2. The identification structure of the level one sub-domain names, under which the applying entity may request the registration of the sub-domain names is the following:
 

3. The policies and rules established by SVNet in this and other related documents, will be applied equally and in the same manner to all applying entities.

4. In order to request the registration of a sub-domain name, the appropiate form must be completed, typed, in paper, and submitted, physically, to the Secretariat of SVNet, the CONACYT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) located in

Colonia Médica, Pasaje Dr. Guillermo Rodríguez Pacas # 51, San Salvador, El Salvador.
Depending on what is requested, one of the available forms must be completed:

All forms may be obtained, via Internet, from, www.svnet.org.sv.

5. The language in which the forms are prepared is Spanish, although all communications related to it and the rest of the process for registering a sub-domain name may be done in Spanish or English.

6. Besides the request for IP addresses and/or sub-domain names, which has to be presented in paper and signed by the Contact person, the rest of the communications may be done via fax and/or electronic mail.

7. The requests for IP addresses and/or sub-domain names will be processed in chronological order, on a "first-come, first-served" basis, following the internal procedures established by SVNet for that purpose. Normally, the requests for sub-domain names will be resolved in less time than those that also require IP addresses. In the later case, the Technical comitee of SVNet may require more information to the applying entity.

8. It is possible to request a sub-domain name without maintaining a dedicated and permanent conection to Internet. However, to make the registration effective, it is necessary that a Primary Domain Name Server (DNS), and optionally, at least one Secondary Name Server, had been configured to resolve the addresses for the requested sub-domain. It is not mandatory that this Name Server be within the country.

9. The applying entity may contract, maintain or change any provider, either national or international, that serves Internet connectivity, to his own convenience, maintaining the IP addresses and/or the sub-domain name. SVNet is not identified with any Internet conncetivity service provider, either national or international. Therefore, any arrangements between the applying entities and their provider is the exclusive responsibility of these parties. Furthermore, SVNet is not a connectivity, access or Web hosting provider.

10. With respect to the sub-domain names:

11. Succesful registration of a sub-domain name does not mean to register a brand or mark. It is a requisite for the applying entity to ensure that it is not violating any trade mark in the country. If this violation is evident, SVNet reserves the right to discuss and investigate the request, before resolving it. In the case of a dispute between applying entities about the rights of a particular name, SVNet does not hold any liability by registering it, and will only provide information to both parties, so that they may reach an agreement. Such agreement must be notified, through a written note, to SVNet.

12. The registration of several names by the same applying entity is possible, as long as it does not reflect any incentive for monopolistic practices, potential especulations for future negotiations with the assigned names or unfair bussiness practices.

13. The applying entity is the responsible for the use of the assigned sub-domain name and of the names and sub-domains created under this, as well as for the correct name resolution of any name under the assigned sub-domain.

14. Starting January 2004, the sub-domain names registration has a cost for the applying entity. Current cost table may be found in prices.

15. It is possible to register last names, first names and proper names, following all of the current policies. These names will be done under subdomain "com.sv".

16. A request may be subject to discussion if it does not comply with some of the aspects here mentioned. However, a request may not be rejected or denied, without a written explanation aproved by SVNet, pointing out the reasons for such an answer. These reasons may not be based on discrimination of any kind.

17. SVNet maintains a public data base of the records of assigned IP addresses and/or sub-domain names. This database is available and accesible at the site Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas.

18. The information used by SVNet will be taken from the original request for registry purposes. Any change to this original request must be requested in written form and must be signed.

a) Minimum payment is for one year. It is also possible to pay in advance 2, 3, 4 or 5 years, with the application of an established discount.

b) Once a sub-domain name is operative, and its payment has been completed, under no circumstance the money will be returned, even if the deletion of the sub-domain is requested. However, if the administrative contact requests it, the sub-domain name may be still deleted.

c) Once the period covered by the payment has finished, and even though the sub-domain name may be deleted, the administrative contact will have a grace period of a month to renew it before considering it available. Nevertheless, payment will be valid form the time of expiration of the previous payment, and not from the date when the payment is actually done.

d) No third party payments will be received for sub-domain names that are in the grace period before the end of such period, and the sub-domain name becomes available. At this point, the interested party will fill the corresponding form and follow the standar procedure for a new registration.
